My Review : Addicted to you by Krista Richie and Becca Richie

Addicted to You (Addicted, #1)
From Goodreads:

No one would suspect shy Lily Calloway’s biggest secret. While everyone is dancing at college bars, Lily stays in the bathroom. To get laid. Her compulsion leads her to one-night stands, steamy hookups and events she shamefully regrets. The only person who knows her secret happens to have one of his own.

Loren Hale’s best friend is his bottle of bourbon. Lily comes at a close second. For three years, they’ve pretended to be in a real relationship, hiding their addictions from their families. They’ve mastered the art of concealing flasks and random guys that filter in and out of their apartment.

But when they go on a family boat trip, surrounded by open seas and limited male bodies in sight, Lily’s confronted with a big fear. Only one guy onboard can fill her addiction, and she’s sworn off going there with Loren Hale ever again.

Now the only person who can truly help her can barely help himself.

**This is a New Adult book recommended for readers 18 and up**

                               My Thoughts:

I read books talking about a specific  ( single )addiction  but never with two different addictions ... Moreover, when two addicted individuals decides to be together. This book really caught my attention. ( Plus the beautiful cover! )

Loren ( Lo ) Hale and Lily Calloway   looks that they have it all. Both born Rich..very rich! And they're in a relationship both of their parents approved and even encourage.. to the point of ...letting them lived together! While still in college?! I was thinking, how many parents would do that?!  *shooks my head?!  But then... all of these, is just a show. Loren and Lily are living together... but not really the "together-together" that we have in mind. Both of them harboring their darkest secrets..

Lily is a sex addict. She wants to feel the high and thrill while screwing different guys and feels the need to watch porno every time. Even in her class! ( just imagine?!)  She is really screwed up! And this, she keeps  from her family like a dirty little secret!

“I wasn’t just another promiscuous girl in school. I didn’t just have sex for fun or because it made me feel empowered. I liked the high, the rush, and how it seemed to fill an emptiness that kept growing inside of me.”

Lo also has his secret. He practically lives on alcohol! Loren can't function without it...he refused to be sober... Drinking into oblivion! Lily does't mind  and never even speaks or questions him about it. It's a perfect arrangement of "me-never-minding-your-business"?!  Which perfectly works for both of them.

“I don’t talk to Lo about feelings. About how it makes him feel to watch me bring home a different guy every night. And he doesn't ask me how it feels to watch him drown into oblivion. He stifles his judgment and I withhold mine, but our silence draws tension between us, inescapable”

Lo grew up into a domineering Dad who always expects more from him. He grew up afraid of him and thus, their "distant" relationship. I understand Lo's tendency towards alcohol. It's his escape from reality he can't deal. He thought the booze can make him forget . With, Lily's case, I can't really get her? I mean, how did she ended up like that? Her parents seems good .. Her, sister, Rose is sometimes a little overbearing..but still she cares for her. I think, maybe Lily has bigger insecurity issues way deep down.

Everything seems to be a big "pretend" but  I can sense that they feel something for each other. This is more than friendship. But they both afraid to admit it.  Lily is always there for Lo when he was drunk-drunk wasted. And the same with Lo, always rescues Lily from her "sexual" conquests.

It works well until one time when both of them are  forced to be together in a yacht with Lily's family. In the middle of the ocean! Which means  no guys for Lily  to screw up and Lo had to try to make his "pretend" boyfriend ... and try to drink minimal and discreetly. Just imagine when Lily suddenly feel that "urge" ... and no available male on sight?! She is dangerously desperate! So, who's to the rescue?!  No other than the reliable Lo! So they made love... or more like a lust?! It was... WHOA!! All the pent up desires finally released! Tsk..tsk.. seems like both of them waited for this moment to happen?

After doing the "wild deed" (uh-oh!) , they both realized and agreed to go from "pretend" to real couple. Okaaaaaay... so the sex was great?! And I forgot to mention that Lo is super hot. Like hot-hot for a Calvin Klein undies model??  Teehee! But there's a catch, Lily would never screw another guy but Lo ...and Lo would go slow with his drinking. I can see full STRUGGLE ahead! Red light flashing! How long can they last without giving in? Or can they even resist it?

Lo and Lily thought being together for real would solve their problem. Sure they use each other.. and Lo, is now Lily's addiction. As time goes on..their addictions intensifies. Lily craves for more and in the most importune times and is ruining her relationship with her family.Lo still drinks and gets into trouble. They keep on saying they're fine which clearly they're not! And they can barely keep up with college.

Lo and Lily 's addiction is a serious issue. My eyes are opened to this reality that sex addiction is as destructive  as alcoholism or any other addiction.  And being in denial doesn't help at all. I love how this story touch me and my heart goes for both Lo and Lily.

I love the ending.  It was perfect . I'm proud of the decisions that they  both made. It was moving and I was close to tears. There is still hope. I am looking forward for what's next for both Lo and Lily.

“What do we say?” I breathe. “Goodbye?”
“No.” He shakes his head. “This isn’t goodbye, Lil. I’ll see you.”

“I’ll always be yours. No distance or time apart will change that, Lily. You need to believe that.”

If you want a moving story that has just enough drama to stir your heart... Addicted to you is definitely for you.
