My Review: Deeper by Robin York

Deeper (Caroline & West, #1)
 From Goodreads:
When Caroline Piasecki’s ex-boyfriend posts their sex pictures on the Internet, it destroys her reputation as a nice college girl. Suddenly her once-promising future doesn’t look so bright. Caroline tries to make the pictures disappear, hoping time will bury her shame. Then a guy she barely knows rises to her defense and punches her ex to the ground.

West Leavitt is the last person Caroline needs in her life. Everyone knows he’s shady. Still, Caroline is drawn to his confidence and swagger—even after promising her dad she’ll keep her distance. On late, sleepless nights, Caroline starts wandering into the bakery where West works.

They hang out, they talk, they listen. Though Caroline and West tell each other they’re “just friends,” their feelings intensify until it becomes impossible to pretend. The more complicated her relationship with West gets, the harder Caroline has to struggle to discover what she wants for herself—and the easier it becomes to find the courage she needs to fight back against the people who would judge her.

When all seems lost, sometimes the only place to go is deeper.

                      My Thoughts:
"Deeper" was one of the emotional books I  have read .  I applaud the author, Ms. York for giving us a deeper insight about revenge porn. One click of a picture, one post...few seconds after, it goes viral...and one's particular life was ruined. It's a nightmare to be on that picture...just like what happened to Caroline.

Just one mistake of trusting the wrong person, and her life was drastically changed...ruined. People judged her, called her awful names...it was the most degrading thing she ever experienced. Her supposed to be bright future dimmed and feels doomed.

Instead of  going after her ex boyfriend , she succumbs and blamed herself. This changed Caroline. She was sleeping less, becoming  paranoid , walks with her head low.... Until her face came directly into West's elbow on a fist fight with no other than her douche ex bf, Nate! Not an ideal moment to meet your knight in shining armor, right? Not when you got elbowed in the face?!  Was West defending her honor?  Caroline, deep inside wants to think so...but the other Caroline says West should never do that for her. Because , everybody knows West is bad news.  He is the guy her father warned her to stay clear. He's into brawls...and he's  a drug dealer...he is trouble! West.. same West who gets her all flustered, hitched  a breath, all worked up...was the last person she wants to be right now! Did the stopped her? No..

West does'nt believe in that thing called love.  After witnessing what love did to his  mother.. how his dad used it against her. How he hurt, abused and abandon her, he had a clear goal. Accomplished something no matter what.. No matter how.   Get his mom and sister out from that shit hole. He can't afford any distractions. Caroline is a distraction. But can he stay away from her?

A tormented Caroline and a another tormented West equals a angst ridden love story! So there's a love story? There is ... But did both of them realized that they are getting deeper when they started having this "non-friendship" thing between them? Nope. Not until it directly hit them in the face!

I love their clandestine meetings at the bakeshop. Nothing should be romantic and sexy about making bread, but with West around? It's impossible not to fan myself  when their chemistry was obviously hotter than highest oven temperature!  Boy! It's there! The accidental touching, the subtle glances.. Ooozing! Did they do something about it? Again, nope. The sexual tension was...was frustrating!

So, they just hang out without asking questions. Questions that need honest answers. Answers that would forced them to share a part of them. West knows he was not the the one for her, he got a lot of baggage and  darkness that he would'nt want to drag into. A wise West would stay away ..really away from her. But guess what? He can tell his brain No but the other part of him says he wants to be always be there for her.

I love it when they took it slowly, Specially the "50 minute kisses"! It was the hottest... and breath-taking kisses! And West, West and his kisses?!!!  Just perfect! One of my favorite moments!

Then kisses lead to something more. Then Caroline needs something more. Can West give it to her? Without complications? Without hurting her? Because at the end he has to make a hard choice...between going home and staying with  her.

Caroline will also have to make a choice. To hold on or to let go. At the end of it all, who needs protecting? When things go downward, she should make a stand. I admired Caroline's strength and character when she decided to come out , face and fight.  It was the best decision she ever made.

The ending was just heart breaking. So many feels. That scene at the airport? Totally made me cry. I felt West. I felt Caroline. It was too much. Was it even possible to feel both helpless and hopeful at the same time? That's what West and Caroline's story made me feel. I am definitely looking forward for the sequel!

" I want you and I don't know how to stop wanting you . I want to get deep inside you, and then deeper , until I'm so deep I don't even know what's  me anymore and  what's you. "

" Don't wait for me" , he whispers  and he kisses me again. " I don't want you to wait.."

       I'm giving this book:
4 heart felt, heart melting stars
